Summer is still in full swing, but getting organized now for the studying that waits for you will make your school year a stress-free experience. I want to offer you 5 back to school tips that worked for me and that I believe will help you start the school year off on the right foot. New year, fresh start!

So let’s get started.

1 – Organised study place: It is very important to have a comfortable space to work in. I suggest a desk in a quiet room that has a good lightning. This will help you concentrate and avoid distractions. You can also study in a coffee shop or a library.

2 – Get motivated: There will be a lot of days where you wanna quit or can’t get out of bed. In that case, motivation is the key. A motivated student will find it easier to go the extra mile and do all the necessary tasks that need to be done to assure success. I suggest to grab a box or a jar and fill it with small sheets of paper that you will write on some motivational quotes that you may find on Tumblr or Pinterest. This trick will remind you that you have shit to get done.

3 – Distraction Off → Tasks Complete: Students and their devices have become virtually inseparable. When the students are texting, looking at Facebook, or cruising on the Internet and listening to a lecture or discussion and trying to take notes, they aren’t dealing with the content. I suggest some apps available on apple store and play store that detox your phone by blocking out apps, websites & notifications (for a certain time) that waste your time and distract you while studying. Example: Focus On App. Or you can simply turn off your phone.

4 – Reward yourself: Stepping away from distractions long enough to get some serious studying done can be difficult. That’s why you should always be thinking of ways to reward yourself for studying. If you have 10 papers to read, after each paper you read, reward yourself with a chocolate bar or a 10 minutes walk outside. You deserve it!

5 – Don’t be afraid to ask: Ask the most stupid questions and ask the hardest. Just ask anything you want to know. Teachers think you’re dumb? Fuck them. Students laugh at you? Fuck them. YOU need to pass that class and YOU need that degree. People will talk anyway.

And finally, relax and breathe. Celebrate small victories. Enjoy learning new things. Knowledge is power, knowledge is sexy!
